COVID-19 and life
I know I haven’t updated in a while but things have been pretty crazy with this whole COVID-19 situation here in the states. Currently my entire company has shifted to a Work From Home policy and I’ve been busy getting things in order. With people hoarding food, toilet paper, and everything else I have been putting my projects on hold until things calm down a bit more.
I received my MSLA printer yesterday and I’ve already done a few test prints on it, and I am excited to say that it works amazingly. I will be writing a review on it once I do get things tuned in and have had more time to play around, but with the shortage of things like 99% IPA and just general supplies I won’t be as actively testing. Currently I’m looking around for opportunities to help with the PPE shortage, but want to do so in a safe and responsible manner. Please note that 3D printing respirators have not been proven to be effective against COVID-19, the Prusa team is working hard on figuring things out, but as of now the most useful thing you van print for yourself is a protective shield:From Design to Mass 3D Printing of Medical Shields in Three Days.
In light of everything going on, if you are a maker, be on the look out for needs, obviously we’re not going to be asked to print medical grade equipment at the moment or anytime soon but I’m sure there are other needs out there. As I mentioned earlier, I currently have most of my projects on hold as I take care of my household and get situated with this new “normal”.
Something I’ve been doing with my 3D printer is using the heated bed to warm my sourdough starter and be used as a “proofing" mat” of sorts to make bread and other baked goods. I’ve also been running around the house fixing things, and even got my garden started and began worm composting again. There are always things to get done.
To everyone, be safe; hold your love ones close and do everything you can to help flatten the curve. This will eventually be over and although life will probably not be the same as it once was, but we’ll make it out of this.
I’ll hopefully have new content soon. Stay tune and be safe!
